    NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Plastic-clog maker Crocs Inc. fell 7.4% after the company said it's keeping its third-quarter outlook of 22 cents to 24 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by FactSet estimated an average of 24 cents a share.

    SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Philip Morris International Inc. said Friday its board raised the quarterly dividend by 10.3% to 64 cents a share from 58 cents a share. The dividend is payable Oct. 8 to shareholders of record as of Sept. 24.

  • Obama to pick new consumer watchdog chief 'soon'

    WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- President Barack Obama said Friday he will soon announce his choice to head a newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which will write rules for mortgages and other consumer credit products. However, he stopped short of endorsing Harvard Law School Professor Elizabeth Warren for the position. Consumer groups have been pressing for Warren to head the agency. "She is a tremendous advocate for this idea. It's only been a couple months and this is a big task setting up such an agency and I'll have an announcement soon about how we're going to move forward," Obama said at a White House press conference on Friday.
